Society of Pilar Bhopal - What We Do

Society of Pilar Bhopal is a non - governmental and non profitable self sustained organization working to empower underprivileged children and youth through relevant education, innovative healthcare and market-focused livelihood programmes. SPB deploys best possible methodology and technology for achieving ideal environment and culture required to practice and promote good governance.

The surest way to break out of the cycle of poverty is through education. Education can significantly improve the quality of life of a family for generations to come. When the basic needs of a child, such as food are not met, education often becomes the last priority. We are helping underprivileged children by providing them with a healthy, balanced meal that they would otherwise have to work for. The meal is an incentive for them to continue their education. It helps reduce the dropout rate to an enormous extent and increases classroom attendance.

Education has been a thrust sector ever since India attained Independence. Government has launched many schemes to promote child education in India. Educated youth of the nation are trying their best to give back to the society what they have earned from it - Education and wisdom. SPB believes that unless members of the civil society are involved proactively in the process of development, sustainable change will not happen. Believing in this SPB sensitises the civil society in order to make them partners in its mission.

Society of Pilar Bhopal believes that education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues - from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights - and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Education is the most effective tool which helps children build a strong foundation; enabling them to free themselves from the vicious cycle of ignorance, poverty and disease.
